FORMAT: British Quad (30 x 40 inches)
STARS: Greta Garbo, Robert Taylor, Lionel Barrymore. Director: George Cukor.
NOTES: The luminous Greta Garbo in one of her best remembered roles. In this she played a courtesan in Paris who loses her love and is then overtaken by poverty and terminal illness. A typical weepie of the period but a fine film that still has real power. This re-release quad dates from the late 1940s or early 1950s.
CONDITION: Grade A. The censorship code of the time has required the distributors to cover-up Garbo's bare shoulders, which have been filled-in with blue (which does not, in our view detract from the piece but rather adds to its period charm). Near fine. Folded, as issued.
