NOTES: Hair opened at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London on September 27, 1968, led by the same creative team as the Broadway production. A licence to perform the play was initially refused by the Lord Chamberlain and opening night was delayed until the abolition of theatre censorship in England under the Theatres Act 1968. This is the advance first state of the POSTER stating "Licensed by the Lord Chamberlain to Thomas L. Cracknell". The Lord Chamberlain had powers to licence theatres and prohibit the performance of plays where he was of the opinion that "it is fitting for the preservation of good manners, decorum or of the public peace so to do". This duty was abolished under the Theatres Act 1968. This POSTER was printed prior to the passing of the Act and subsequent issues of the POSTER carried the words "Licensed by the G.L.C to Thomas L. Cracknell".
